Before I painted in oils I used to be a pastel artist, but framing and shipping got to be so expensive so I switched.  I tried a little pastel background with this painting. It works great with paint horses.

                    Spring foal. Is there anything better?  This filly grew up to be a beautiful mare. Her nickname is Rainy and now that she is retired she spends her days in a huge pasture. Winters in Nebraska are a little hard on her but I put a nice warm blanket on her if it gets to cold.I painted the sides of this painting green so you really don't have to frame it.

                        Another painting of Eddie the draft horse. I liked painting him.
       I found him when I was on a horse vacation a few years ago. Eddie was one of the                     draft horses that pulled the covered wagon for the tourists.

Parade on Grand Ave

                           Every rodeo has a grand parade before the main event. This rider is from a very large group of youth riders called the Westernaires. Their website is Westernaires.org. Check them out they are located in Colorado and ride in rodeo's all over the country. I first discovered their talent in Nebraska at Nebraska's big Rodeo. I've found they make great model's for paintings!

                            I used to go to the local Quarter Horse roping in Fremont NE.
                            They have a out door arena thats great for  photos.
                            I took this scene out of the arena and put them out in the open.
                            I thought it would look better with out all the fences.

                                 I took this photograph a long time ago. A palomino named Goldie.
                                 Her owner was allergic to horses so she didn't get ridden much.
                                 I found the photo not to long ago and knew I had to paint her.
