Blue Eyed Paint
Click here to bid6 x 8 inches oil on canvas Sold
I included a photo of the painting framed to show what it looks like but the frame is not included. The photo looks like her eyes are white but they are actually blue. Her name is Hope and she did lose her left eye to moon blindness I just decided to give her both her eyes for this painting.

Summer Day
8 x 10 inches oil on canvas click here to bid Sold
Sometimes when I'm sorting through photos looking for some inspiration I find one that really jumps out at me or there is just something about the photo that makes me want to paint it. The shadow on the horse's belly is what drew me to this photo. I loved the way it framed her face and slid down around her belly and disappeared underneath. A little crazy I know but just a little something about me and how I chose what I'm going to paint.

Knee High

This foal grew up to be a very stout palomino gelding. I haven't seen him
in a while but I heard he did get big. I painted the sides on this one so you
can frame it or hang it just the way it is.

Maybe I should have called it Primary Colors. I think Flight works better.
I love how dark the horses get in the winter especially against the cool colors of winter.
Hope everyone likes her!

Hope everyone likes it! I did a sketch first before the painting. Thought I'd include it in the pictures.

I tried to show you how I start a painting. I usually start with
a blank canvas and a little brown paint. I like to add a frame so
I have an idea where to place the focus of my painting. I haven't
done any cows in a while so this turned out to be a good exercise.
I like the outcome.

This is Hope, she love's to show off . I took this photo one afternoon when we had a lot
of snow on the ground. She loves to strut her stuff. I added a picture of the painting framed, to give you an idea of what the painting looks like after its been framed. I never sell them with a frame because I feel it is a personal choice.

I think the name is appropriate. It makes me think of standing outside
after the first snow thinking how quiet and magical it is. It doesn't last long,
but when its here it gives me the shivers. Sounds like a name for another
painting. Hope everyone likes it.

I generally paint the horses that I have easy
access to. This paint horse shows up in several
of my paintings sometimes in the back ground or like this
one she's the main subject. I'm hoping Kayla doesn't mind.

9 x 12 inches oil on canvas. I went to a kids horse show called the Youth Rodeo. Took some action photos and did some paintings. This is one of them. They had horses and kids of every size and color, they even had some adults competing. I had fun watching them. This buckskin was running the barrels well maybe just walking them.

At the Rodeo
click here to bid 8 x 10 inches oil on canvas board Sold
This painting is canvas but on a hard board. The paint slides on and is really fun to manipulate. I tried a little looser technique in the background and tighter in the foreground.
I like to try different surfaces, to give me a challenge and change it up a little.

Sorrel Bay Gray. I placed the bay so he could frame the gray. He really
makes the gray horse stand out. The flaxen mane on the sorrel makes the bay
stand out. Worked out pretty good I think.

She stays close
click here to bid 6 x 6 inches oil on canvas Sold
''She stays close'' to her mother. Rainy was a sheltered foal. She did not have other
playmates until she was weaned. It was a tough transition period for her. This time I remembered to take pictures at my table while I was painting her to kind of let you see the
progression of my painting process. The sides are also painted so you won't have to frame it.

The Gray Mustang
click here to bid 11 x 14 inches oil on canvas
Sold
Actually I should of named the painting ''Sadie'' because thats what her owners named
her when they adopted her as a mustang. The family had some kids and she was really good with them. I really was trying to capture her character and not put all the focus on her conformational flaws. Sometimes the ones with the flaws turn out to be the best kind. I hope that she had a good life.

Spring foal. Is there anything better? This filly grew up to be a beautiful mare. Her nickname is Rainy and now that she is retired she spends her days in a huge pasture. Winters in Nebraska are a little hard on her but I put a nice warm blanket on her if it gets to cold.I painted the sides of this painting green so you really don't have to frame it.
